GC Tooth Mousse
Water based, sugar free dental topical crème containing Recaldent™ CPP-ACP (Casein Phosphopeptide – Amorphous Calcium Phosphate)
Recaldent™ is derived from the milk protein, casein. For many years it has been known that milk and its derivatives have a tooth protective effect. Recently, research has shown that this activity is due to a part of the casein protein called Casein Phosphopeptide (or CPP), which carries calcium and phosphate ions 'stuck' to it, in the form of Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (or ACP). This complex of CPP-ACP (Recaldent™) is an ideal delivery system for bio-available calcium and phosphate ions.
The first product for professional use that contains Recaldent™ technology is GC Tooth Mousse. GC Tooth Mousse incorporating Recaldent™ promises to make an important contribution to protecting the oral environment in a wide range of situations where a mineral imbalance may arise.
- Relieves tooth sensitivity
- Does not irritate dry mouths caused by certain medications
- Helps minimize tooth sensitivity before and after professional cleaning
- Helps minimize tooth sensitivity after whitening procedures
- Is helpful during orthodontics to help control (or reduce) dentine hypersensitivity
- Is not a toothpaste; it is a topical tooth crème that can be used safely several times daily
- Delivers RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) to restore mineral balance in the oral environment
- Provides extra protection for teeth
- Helps neutralize acid challenges from acidogenic bacteria in plaque and other internal and external acid sources
- Tastes delicious and makes teeth feel smoother and cleaner

MI Paste® & MI Paste Plus®
MI Paste and MI Paste Plus are the only products for professional use containing the active ingredient RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP), a special milk-derived protein that has a unique ability to release bio-available calcium and phosphate (and fluoride in MI Paste Plus) to tooth surfaces. When it comes to maintaining a healthy smile, these key ingredients can make a big difference in overall health.
MI Paste Plus offers the same benefits of MI Paste, but is enhanced with a patented form of fluoride (900 ppm). MI Paste and MI Paste Plus are safe and easy-to-use both in office and at-home. They are both available in five delicious flavors: melon, mint, strawberry, tutti-frutti and vanilla.
Choose MI Paste and MI Paste Plus with RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP):
- Relieves tooth sensitivity
- Does not irritate dry mouths
- Provides a topical coating for patients suffering from sensitivity and oral mucosa
- Helps minimize tooth sensitivity before and after professional cleaning and tooth whitening
What is the difference between MI Paste & MI Paste Plus?
MI Paste does not contain fluoride and is recommended for children under six years of age and pregnant women.
MI Paste Plus offers the same great benefits of regular MI Paste; it is enhanced with a patented form of fluoride.
- MI Paste and MI Paste Plus contain RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP); Casein Phosphopeptide (CPP) are natural occurring molecules which are able to release calcium and phosphate ions and stabilize Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), which is also the source of calcium and phosphate
- RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) is a special milk-derived protein that can help decrease dentin hypersensitivity
- MI Paste and MI Paste Plus with RECALDENT (CPP-ACP) adheres easily to soft tissue, pellicle, plaque and even hydroxyapatite; they react similar to the mineral/statherin relation in saliva supplying bio-available calcium and phosphate (and also fluoride in MI Paste Plus) required for supersaturation to take place1,2
- MI Paste supplies calcium and phosphate needed for patients with poor saliva flow; this situation can be further augmented by elevating the level of fluoride (by using MI Paste Plus, which has fluoride)

MI Varnish
MI Varnish with RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) enhances enamel acid resistance and boosts salivary fluoride levels. This product remains on the teeth longer than other fluoride varnishes and contains high levels of fluoride and calcium released in the oral cavity. The difference is in the RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP), which makes MI Varnish a natural and unique choice for your patients. Casein phosphopeptides (CPP) naturally occurs in milk casein; Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), which is found in the RECALDENT™, is also the source of calcium and phosphate. In the oral cavity, CPP binds to oral surfaces such as teeth, dentin, oral mucosa and biofilm. Calcium and phosphate ions are the building blocks for healthy teeth and MI Varnish delivers bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions into the saliva.
- Higher fluoride, calcium and phosphate ions released due to the RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) technology (FIG 2)
- Reduces sensitivity by sealing and penetrating dentinal tubules effectively blocking out external stimuli
- Flows easily into interproximal areas due to its low viscosity
- Non-clumping, white, natural translucent shade
- Excellent retention – stays on longer than the leading varnishes
- Unique unit dose, easy to open, easy to access varnish
- Generous volume per unit dose; enough for a full adult dentition
- Does not immediately clump upon exposure to saliva, allowing ease of use and longer working time
- Greater fluoride contact time and increased calcium and phosphate bioavailability than gels, foams and other varnishes
- Stands out on tray, easy to identify – brightly colored unit dose

Saliva-Check BUFFER
An in-office test to evaluate quality of saliva
Understand your patient’s oral environment better with Saliva-Check BUFFER kit. This will help you plan with your patient an appropriate treatment and prevention program. The test results become a very useful diagnostic and powerful communication tool to patients.
- Checks the flow rate, viscosity and consistency of non-stimulated saliva; this will provide information about how the patient’s lifestyle may be consequently affecting their oral health
- Checks the quantity of stimulated saliva a patient can produce; this enables identification of any major salivary gland diseases
- Checks the buffering capacity (quality) of stimulated saliva; this will establish the effectiveness of the saliva in neutralizing acids in the mouth
- Checks the pH of the patient’s resting saliva; this will determine whether acid levels may be dangerously high, hence possibly causing erosion or caries problems

Saliva-Check MUTANS
SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS tests for a very specific bacteria known as streptococcus mutans. Please note, there are many bacteria that play a role in caries (ex: Atopobium, Propionibacterium and Lactobacillus bacteria); it is also highly dependent upon geography and age groups. For example, root caries is caused by Actinomyces viscosus; so the SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS test would not give a positive result. For early childhood caries S. Mutansare not involved, S. Mutansare usually are only present in plaque found on early lesions, once the lesions cavitate other bacteria take over and S. Mutans counts drop. Why test your patients’ Streptococcus mutans level? The Streptococcus mutans bacterial species plays a leading role in the initiation of dental caries. When used with other clinical information, salivary levels of this bacterium is useful for caries risk assessment in patients.
Accurate results in just 15 minutes
Using a very specific immunochromatography process, SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS is not reliant on bacteria growth; meaning that incubators or other devices are not needed. Therefore, the traditional culture test is no longer necessary and accurate results are available in 15 minutes. Accuracy is possible as the test strip contains 2 monoclonal antibodies that selectively detect only the S. mutans species; meaning no other bacteria contaminates the results. In cases of positive results, a red line is shown on the test (T) line; meaning the patient has a level of S. mutans equal to or above 500 000 colony forming units per ml (cfu/ml) saliva.
Who to test:
- New patients – particularly children and the elderly
- Expecting parents or guardians, to prevent transmission
- Patients with lower natural oral protection because of low salivary flow
- Patients undergoing periodontal treatment due to higher risk of root surface caries
- Patients with an acidic diet, low oral pH or high frequency of fermentable carbohydrates
- Patients before their extensive restorative treatment in order to avoid recurrence of cavitations
*Patients identified with high levels of Streptococcus mutans may benefit from a treatment program that includes using MI Paste® or MI Paste Plus®
