Accessories
SafetyMemoDisc (SMD) come fixed to Race files and are available separately for manual instruments. When the recommendations, below are followed SMD enables optimal use of the instruments and control over metal fatigue of instruments.
The SMD can be sterilized and remains attached to the instrument, thus ensuring that on the information on usage information is saved.
For manual instruments, the SMD records the number of uses or how often they have been sterilized.
For rotary instruments, between one and four petals are removed from the flange after each treatment.
The number of petals remaining indicates which types of treatment are still possible :
- one petal corresponds to simple cases (S), that is, straight, slightly curved or wide canals.
- two petals correspond to moderately complex cases (M), i.e., more curved or narrow canals.
- four petals correspond to difficult cases (D), i.e. canals taht are, S-shaped, very narrow, calcified or with extreme curvature.

Saliva-Check BUFFER
An in-office test to evaluate quality of saliva
Understand your patient’s oral environment better with Saliva-Check BUFFER kit. This will help you plan with your patient an appropriate treatment and prevention program. The test results become a very useful diagnostic and powerful communication tool to patients.
- Checks the flow rate, viscosity and consistency of non-stimulated saliva; this will provide information about how the patient’s lifestyle may be consequently affecting their oral health
- Checks the quantity of stimulated saliva a patient can produce; this enables identification of any major salivary gland diseases
- Checks the buffering capacity (quality) of stimulated saliva; this will establish the effectiveness of the saliva in neutralizing acids in the mouth
- Checks the pH of the patient’s resting saliva; this will determine whether acid levels may be dangerously high, hence possibly causing erosion or caries problems

Saliva-Check MUTANS
SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS tests for a very specific bacteria known as streptococcus mutans. Please note, there are many bacteria that play a role in caries (ex: Atopobium, Propionibacterium and Lactobacillus bacteria); it is also highly dependent upon geography and age groups. For example, root caries is caused by Actinomyces viscosus; so the SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS test would not give a positive result. For early childhood caries S. Mutansare not involved, S. Mutansare usually are only present in plaque found on early lesions, once the lesions cavitate other bacteria take over and S. Mutans counts drop. Why test your patients’ Streptococcus mutans level? The Streptococcus mutans bacterial species plays a leading role in the initiation of dental caries. When used with other clinical information, salivary levels of this bacterium is useful for caries risk assessment in patients.
Accurate results in just 15 minutes
Using a very specific immunochromatography process, SALIVA-CHECK MUTANS is not reliant on bacteria growth; meaning that incubators or other devices are not needed. Therefore, the traditional culture test is no longer necessary and accurate results are available in 15 minutes. Accuracy is possible as the test strip contains 2 monoclonal antibodies that selectively detect only the S. mutans species; meaning no other bacteria contaminates the results. In cases of positive results, a red line is shown on the test (T) line; meaning the patient has a level of S. mutans equal to or above 500 000 colony forming units per ml (cfu/ml) saliva.
Who to test:
- New patients – particularly children and the elderly
- Expecting parents or guardians, to prevent transmission
- Patients with lower natural oral protection because of low salivary flow
- Patients undergoing periodontal treatment due to higher risk of root surface caries
- Patients with an acidic diet, low oral pH or high frequency of fermentable carbohydrates
- Patients before their extensive restorative treatment in order to avoid recurrence of cavitations
*Patients identified with high levels of Streptococcus mutans may benefit from a treatment program that includes using MI Paste® or MI Paste Plus®

Instruments, Periodontic Instruments, Scalers / Curettes
Scaler H6-H7
Instrumentation :
For calculus removal place the tip third of the scaler’s cutting edge against the tooth. Tilt the instrument toward the tooth to achieve 70° to 80° angle between the tooth and the blade. Apply lateral pressure and activate the scaler by using vertical, diagonal or horizontal pull strokes. To maintain control use short 2-3 mm long strokes.
